CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION!
Featuring Louie Anderson, Mo Collins, Carly McMenoman
About A Comic follows the story of Carly McMenoman, a young female stand-up comic who people may not have heard of, but they soon will. Now 23, Carly started her stand-up career at the age of 15, and in the spring of 2010 was discovered by legendary comedian, Louie Anderson, who effectively took her under his wing, and began coaching her to the top. The film begins with her performing at open mic showcases in the basement of local bars around her native Minneapolis, then follows her as she moves to Los Angeles and finds that she needs to essentially start over from the begining and struggle her way to make a name for herself. As Louie coaches her and repeatedly invites her to open for him in Vegas, we watch her career evolve as she begins to book gigs at some of LA’s most prestigious and famous comedy venues, and prepares for her first national TV performance. The film also follows Carly's crusade to break down the glass ceiling still prevalent in comedy, and with words of advise from other notable celebrity female comics, she breaks through the inequitable barriers in a poignant yet very funny way. It’s a film that will inspire not only all types of performers, but also anyone who has ever had a dream, and had the guts to pursue it; especially women who are held down by the belief that they simply can’t do it.
About A Comic is filming now, and will be released in early 2012.
