How does this work?
Esentially this works very similarly to kickstarter.com. However, this way, all monies go to the production of the film, and isn't absorbed in fees. On the $500 and up level, a pay back scenario has been implemented. The production has so far been funded solely by producer/director Dav Kaufman, and does not need that much to bring it to completetion. When our goal of a mere $5,000 is realized, this opportunity to be a part of this film franchise will be closed, and no further donations/investments will be accepted. About the Project

Herpers III: Tales from the Field, is the third feature documentary in what will become the second known feature length documentary franchise in film history! As the fans of these films know, Herpers and Herpers II are the first feature length documentaries ever produced on the great reptile culture. The reptile culture is enormous yet most people who aren’t involved in it have very little idea it exists, until they see these movies. While the first two films featured these incredible animals in a captive setting, Herpers III: Tales from the Field expounds on the first chapter of the first movie, featuring the "Field Herper" as they travel the globe in search of these amazing creatures in their natural habitats. It is a movie that will not only entertain, but educate not only those who are conservationists, but educators and students, and people who just love the outdoors in general whether or not they are into reptiles and amphibians. The film will take our audience to those dream locations that are on every field herper’s bucket list. From the diverse garter snakes of the Pacific Northwest to the timber rattlesnakes of the Mississippi River bluffs, to the rare and beautiful pythons and goannas of Australia to Costa Rica where already, the production is one of only four professional film crews in the world to film the critically endangered Lemur Leaf Frog in the wild. Production on Herpers III: Tales from the Field is already half way complete. With your help, this film will be completed and the DVD released by the fall of 2012.

What is your money being used for?

All monies donated/invested will go directly to the making of this film in the following ways:

• Because these movies are shot entirely on location in various places, travel expenses will make up the bulk of our budget.
  
• Equipment rental such as sound, camera, and lighting equiptment.
  
• Crew wages for cinemotographer, production sound, post-production sound mixer, etc.
• Post-production services such as color correcting, post sound studio rental, etc.
